La Ciudad Lineal
Undergraduate studio, with Milagros Barchi. Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Fall 2021. Swansea Docks, Wales UK. This studio reconsiders the legacy of the linear city by instrumentalizing the linkage that it constructs between architectural form (in section) and urban ambition (in extension). The selected site at the Swansea docks prompts a re-thinking of cultural and infrastructural space in the contemporary urban condition, challenging the Linear City's typical modernist values of standardization and focusing instead on the potential for flexibility and heterogeneity within the type. Thinking Cartographically/Précisions & Projections: Rio de Janiero
Undergraduate seminar, with Melissa Pomsztein and Inés Verna. Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Fall 2020 & 2021. Rio de Janeiro. This seminar investigated the critical and projective impact of mapping on urban design over two, independent semesters and across four cities. Addressing the figurality of the landscape, projects on Rio de Janeiro tended toward the megastructural though considering the effect at the pedestrian scale as well. Thinking Cartographically/Précisions & Projections: São Paulo
Undergraduate seminar, with Melissa Pomsztein and Inés Verna. Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Fall 2020 & 2021. São Paulo. This seminar investigated the critical and projective impact of mapping on urban design over two, independent semesters and across four cities. São Paulo's field of hills preclude a single image, instead comprising a landscape of pedestrian-scaled moments. Intensivities: Constructing Privacy in the Urban Margins
Undergraduate studio. Carnegie Mellon University, Spring 2021. Hoàn Kiếm Ancient Quarter, Hanoi Vietnam. This studio explored the idea of urban privacy not as isolation but in immediate proximity with the flows of public life. As the city has developed, private life has been increasingly forced into the public domain, albeit without the support of built form. The tension between a project’s boundaries and the extension of its urban effects by limiting the scale to operations smaller than a building. Flows of Convergence and Confluence
Undergraduate studio, with Milagros Barchi. Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Fall 2020. Uttara Model Town: Phase 3, Dhaka Bangladesh. This studio responds to the eccentric growth of megacities worldwide and the displacement of transit nodes from civic centers to placeless, exurban outposts with a new typological form organized through a radical engagement with infrastructural elements—including a long-rumored high-speed rail connection to Kunming, Mandalay, and Kolkata—bundled to building systems. Urban Dynamics: Agency of Transformation
Undergraduate studio Singapore University of Technology and Design, Summer 2019. Guangzhou, CN. Working within a set of urban villages on Hiazhu island—informal settlements without a central planning strategy, characterized by continuous transformation and direct intervention—the studio explored ways of operating alongside the existing urban metabolism through time-based, adaptive, and generative design methods in contrast to static, comprehensive masterplans. The students worked primarily through agent-based modeling and generative video animations (using Grasshopper/ghPython) to identify locations for tactical interventions into the existing fabric. These interventions were scoped to emphasize their contingency on the existing urban fabric.
